But this is more than just football. It’s a platform for healing, inclusion, and systemic change.
Our Mission: To raise awareness about the mental health and wellbeing challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees in Cyprus — many of whom are navigating trauma, discrimination, and institutional barriers.
Why Sports? Because football can:
Build resilience and help overcome trauma Foster belonging and relational growth Teach stress management and emotional coping skills This initiative is innovative: participants engage in workshops, focus groups, and interviews before and after the tournament, giving them a voice and a platform to be heard. Their stories will be shared across media to amplify their realities and hopes.
The Challenge: Cyprus hosts 4% of its population as asylum seekers, yet services are scarce, and tensions are rising. Many face homelessness, exploitation, and long waits before they can work. These issues are rarely discussed at the EU level.
Our Solution: Use the power of sport to unite, foster acceptance, and co-create shared solutions.
This initiative is proudly supported by the Olympism365 Innovation Hub, which connects changemakers to collaborate, share knowledge, and scale impact.
